Evan and Kaylin

were in their 1st horse show this past weekend. Evan had a great time and has talked about it all week. He "won" a pink ribbon that he calls his medal.

Evan and I went Hiking

through the house the other afternoon. We set up our tent(mom's sheet) and a little bear cub we saw along the trail snuck in. When she saw the tent, Mama Bear tore it down and sent us to the bathtub.

Dad's favorite way to play with Henry.

It just cracks me up and he'll do it forever. Of course, whenever he does catch it he tries to destroy it,,,so he may not think it's as funny as me.

It is not the cleanest...

house but we don't normally find frogs hanging out on the blinds.
Evan and I got a couple of paper plates and ,like Diego, rescued him and returned him to the wild(front yard).

This past weekend...

the Crain's had us and eight other couples to his folks place to go tubing. It is a great place to stay and it was lots of fun. It was also educational;
We learned that Natalie is either too old to, or has never been good at the rope swing.
And the "all boys, no wives" car is actually pretty boring.

We had the Lynch....

family over last week for grandaddy's B-day. We played cars in the dirt(the dirt right next to the sandbox).
And Evan and Kaylin blew out the candles and helped cut the cake.

We gotta a lot of rain....

last week and Evan I took a walk around the neighborhood. While trespassing to puddle hop in his frog boots he said" dad, we need to get a stream in our front yard".

A while back...

Evan and I were out in the the shop and he grabbed a paint stirrer and asked what it was.. I told him it was a spanking stick and that one was just for him. So, I put his name on it and brought it inside. I put it on top of the TV and it was a pretty effective tool for a while. Then he realized that Dad had no intention of ever spanking,, and one afternoon he said "Dad,that's just a paint stirrer".
I put Henry's name on the other side, just didn't want him to think that he was safe from the spanking stick.

Evan has really....

started to like to play games. We play Candyland,Tribond and Memory. Well, for Tribond, he rolls the dice(says," Henry needs a new pair of shoes") and I make up the questions(what is your favorite kinda truck, etc..) Here he is playing a little spanish to english memory on the porch with Hannah Grace..

I just hope that he doesn't take after his mom.. All of my friends call her the board-game-nazi. Most won't play with her at all. She just believes that all games have to be played by the rules and to the end(till death if necessary).

Rainy Sunday....

there is nothing like eating Cheetos and playing Pitfall on the old Atari.

Well, it was Sunday night.....

bath and bedtime after a pretty long weekend and everything was going pretty good. It was time to put Henry down and we couldn't find a pacifier. After ten minutes of looking, Natalie handed him to me so she could look harder.
And I found it,,,,,zipped up in his pajamas.

We went to Madidi...

Saturday night for lain's "29th" birthday.
It was nice to get to see everybody and the food was good.
And Evan always enjoys having company.

This is what Evan ......

puts on when you let him pick his own clothes (everytime, same shirt etc...) He can put it all on himself, just can't figure that zipper out. Boots are on the wrong feet, but he says that that's how he likes em.

Feeding Henry is very messy.

Moon Lake Reunion

Here is a picture from our latest girls reunion at Moon Lake. We decided this weekend that it was our 8th time to get together in the summer. We started at Pickwick in 2002 and then moved to Moon Lake in 2006. I always love being with these girls and I'm already looking forward to seeing all of you next year - plus some of those who had to miss out this year!!!

I took Evan...

to get a "big boy" haircut this afternoon. When we got there he wouldn't talk to the lady that was going to cut it. She told him that she knew his grandma; then he was extra chatty, even showed her his Lightnin McQueen underwear.
In the chair next to us was a teenage girl getting pink highlights and dad started wanting to stop the clock. Wanted to just grab him out of the chair, pay the lady and tell her we'd be back for that "big boy" haircut in a couple of years.
But, the haircut is not too bad.

It hasn't bothered him too much, but, in the mirror while brushing his teeth he said " Mom, why do I look different?"

The fields were also free...

so Evan wanted to run the bases..He stood on home plate and said " you say, on your mark, get set, go" So I did....
.........and he ran as fast as he could to 3rd base.

Sunday afternoon...

"just us boys" went to the ball field ,where the roller hockey rink is, and Evan got to try out his "over the shoes skates" that Grandma got him. We had the place to ourselves and it was a very nice 80 degrees out. He didn't skate to long, but was pretty good at it when he had little brother to help him out.

Henry sorta crawling,,,Evan sorta skating

This morning we made "wop" cinammon rolls

We passed a fire truck...

in town today and Evan said "maybe that's Keaton's dad(a kid on T-ball team's dad is a fireman). Then he said "Keaton's dad is cool". I said " cooler than me?"........"yea".

Hank taking a bath in the sink.

We went fishing at Grandaddy's...

and caught one little fish and one big fish. Mostly we just played with crickets and ate M&M's.

Evan and Kaylin went....

to Little Rock to see Dora the Explorer Live and stayed in a hotel with Grandma and Grandaddy.

Evan got out of bed

and right away put on his hat and "cowboy" belt. We made cinnamon toast pizzas for breakfast.

Mom is out of town....

for a 3 day girls weekend, so it is "just us boys". Well, just us boys and Grandma(we gotta eat). I had to convince Evan that Grandaddy doesn't sleep in his hat.

Just couldn't help...

but post this terrible pick of Henry....It's bad. He looks like Rodney Dangerfield...."Hey, you scratched my anchor!"

Grandma and Grandaddy...

got Evan a "cowboy shirt" from Tractor & Supply(his favorite store). He said " I need my sunglasses, that's what real cowboys wear". I said,"that depends on what you think a real cowboy is".

Evan got really..

sweaty fishing, and when it was time to eat, he wanted me to dry his hair with the blow dryer(just an excuse to not stop playing). We made a compromise and Henry and I got to have dinner with Sheik Ali Dishtowel.

Just your typical...

Monday afternoon campout in the living room.

Evan and Dad got matching

big and little fishing poles. We tied on some washers and have been practicing in the yard. If his shorts look a little puffy, it's because he is wearing 5 pairs of underwear. Last night Mom took him to the mall(Walmart) and let him pick out his own new underwear. He liked them so much....well he's got them ALL on.
After all the rain we got today the ditch behind the house was pretty full and Evan wanted to give it a try, but the 20 yards was too far to walk so we had to load up the gator(but when you're fishing with washers in a drainage ditch, might as well have fun getting there)
