It's not fair!!!

This morning I heard my child say this phrase for the first time ever.  He looked at me and said, "It's not fair!".  So I asked him what was not fair.  He said it was not fair that he couldn't go to church and that he had to go to school.  It is a little confusing for him because church and school (Mother's Day Out) are in the same building.  So at least his first, It's not fair, was because he wanted to go to church! 

October 2008

We had a pretty busy month of October and I have not posted a lot - so I just made a slideshow of some of the highlights of the month! Pate Carter came over to play one day and Evan could not get his name straight - he is still calling him Pete. But they had a fun time riding in the Gator and sharing a snack. He helped Daddy rake leaves one afternoon and then finally took a bath in my bathtub! He is not scared of it any more. Evan had his birthday party at the church on October 18th. We had an Ice Cream party - all the kids got to make their own ice cream sundaes. Jill made the cake and we had a moon bounce with a slide. Later that afternoon, we went out to Cedar Hill Farms in Hernando. Evan rode a pony, fed some animals, rode a "train", played on the playground and ran through the hay maze. The next weekend he got his big boy haircut. You can see some before and after shots in the slideshow. Finally, we ended the month with Halloween at Mother's Day Out and then actual Halloween last Friday. He had a great time trick or treating!

Enjoying Mom's birthday cake

Josh surprised me a week early and came home with a birthday cake for me from Sugaree's bakery in New Albany, MS. If you have never had anything from there - I HIGHLY suggest a visit! At minimum, you have to stop by and get a cupcake!! Evan enjoyed the cake too and I would let him sit on the counter and just dig into the whole thing!

2008 MidSouth Fair

Friday evening, Josh and I took Evan to the MidSouth Fair in Memphis. We all had a great time! There was a petting zoo and tons of rides just the right size for Evan (see the slideshow at the top). His two favorite rides are in the videos - the 18-wheeler ride (above - he is in the front blue truck) and the motorcycle ride (below). He was so serious when he was on the "driving" rides - we think that he really thought that he was doing the driving! He had popcorn, cotton candy and lemonade on the way home. This morning he asked if we could go back again today!

Kudzu Control program

In Hernando, on Highway 304, there has been a sign up for over a year (maybe two) talking about the Kudzu Control project. I drive down this road and pass this sign almost every day. As soon as the sign went up, I expected to see a decline in the amount of kudzu, but nothing happened. I waited and waited. Finally, one day there was a change! About seven goats and one llama were put in a fenced area. Apparantly, goats are as effective as chemicals in removing kudzu AND they need a llama to protect them! It's fun to watch the goats and Evan really likes them! He waves to them and talks to them through the car window every time that we drive by. He even wants us to get a goat at our house! I told him that Sadie wouldn't like it, but he said that she would. So that is what the Kudzu Control program is all about - goats & a llama! That wasn't me!!

I think Josh is trying to tell me that I haven't updated the blog in a few weeks - so he posted an entry acting like he was me! I did not write the post about his toe! But, I did witness the ingrown toenail removal. I will admit that the shot looked very painful and that Josh was very brave - for all of about 45 seconds that it took to do the shot. Not to belittle his "procedure" but he did compare it to having a baby!

We had a rainy day at the beach, so Ashley & I took Evan and Katie to see a movie.  We went to see Space Chimps because it was the only G movie playing that day.  It was not that good and a little too over their heads.  Evan made it through over an hour of the movie - even though we had to change seats once.  After we left - he said that he had fun!

24 week checkup

I went to the doctor today for my 24 (about) week checkup.  I did the glucose test and it was negative - so no gestational diabetes!  We also listened to the heartbeat and did a belly measurement.  Everything is right on track and doing well!

So sweet

Evan was so sweet last night.  When it was time for bed, he said that he wanted to talk to his baby brother.  He leaned over to my tummy and said, "Good night.  I love you!" and then he kissed my tummy!  How cute is that? 

Lynch Vacation in the Smoky Mountains

We just got home from a fun vacation in the Smoky Mountains of Tennesee with the Lynch family. We stayed in a cabin on top of a mountain in Gatlinburg. You can see our view from the back porch in the picture above. Gary, Kay, Adam, Ketrin, Noah, Chesley, Jason, Kaylin, Josh, myself and Evan were all there. We left Thursday morning. On Friday, the girls went shopping at the outlet mall in Pigeon Forge. On Saturday morning, we went to the Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies . Evan had a great time. His favorite part was when the scuba diver was in the tank full of sharks and sting rays. He also got to touch a horseshoe crab and see fish that looked like Nemo. He came home with a new favorite toy, a stuffed shark. That afternoon, we got a visit from some black bears - see the pictures in the posts below. There was a momma bear and three baby bears. They got into the garbage and had a little feast! They got very close to the front porch. Evan waved at them and talked to them. The next day he said that the baby bears played with his toy and his sandbox and that the momma bear sat in the rocking chair and watched them. Later that day we went to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and played in a creek. On Sunday, we spent the day at Dollywood. Evan had so much fun riding the rides. His favorite ride was the Smoky Mountain River Rampage that he rode twice!! He came home with his second new favorite toy, a snake! We had a great time being with all of the family and we were sad to come home today. It was a great trip!!

I'll post more pictures when I get some from the other family members (we forgot our camera)!

A couple of weeks ago, a group of us went to Franklinton, Lousiana, to go tubing down the Bogue Chitto and visit Matt Crain's hometown. We stayed at his parent's camp. It was a lot of fun! Thanks to the Crains for showing us a wonderful time!!

Moon Lake Reunion Weekend

This past weekend we had our 7th annual college girls reunion at Moon Lake. We started this in 2002 at Pickwick and moved it to Moon Lake last year. We had a lot of fun seeing each other and getting caught up with what everyone has been doing! The weather was great! I am already excited about going again next year! Thanks to Katie for hosting our Murder Mystery Party on Saturday night. Thanks to Beth Hamilton & Sarah Hamilton - and One Eye Toad - for providing us with great OET polo shirts. You can see us in them in the picture above!

We're home!

I was discharged from the hospital today and we got home around lunchtime. It feels so good to be home and out of that hospital room. I think that Josh and I were both getting a little tired of being cooped up inside for 4 1/2 days. We had a few ups and downs this week (with my white blood cell count and other things) but we got a good report today and I was sent home. The baby did very well the whole week - no complications. We had an ultrasound yesterday and he looked great and his heart tones have been normal all week. I've still got a few more weeks of recovery at home ahead. We will see the doctor in a week or so to get the final pathology reports of the tumor and to get my 36 staples removed! So please keep the prayers coming for this test result!

Answered Prayers

My surgery went very well today! The mass was low malignant tumor.
This is a borderline tumor. It should not require any additional
treatment other than quarterly appointments to do bloodwork and see
the doctor.

The baby did well too! He has good heart tones. They are checking
these every 8 hours.

My pain is being managed very well.

We still need to make it through the next few days - wanting
everything to continue as they are going.

We just feel very blessed that everything has gone the way we had
hoped and prayed for it to go.

Thank you all so much for all the prayers! They were definitely
answered!

Prayer Request

I will be having surgery on Monday, June 23rd to remove my right ovary and the mass that has attached itself to it. The surgery is scheduled to begin at 11:00 am and will take several hours. I have been through a similar surgery before, but not while I was pregnant. On a positive note, this mass was discovered at my first ultrasound and we have been watching through ultrasounds for the past 8 weeks (hence the reason we found out it was a boy so early). The mass has not made any significant size or shape changes in that eight weeks. There are three doctors that are taking care of me (and the baby) right now - my ob/gyn, a maternal fetal specialist and my gynecological oncologist. The oncologist will be performing the surgery. He did my previous surgery 2 1/2 years ago. They all feel that the risk to the baby is very low and that surgery at 17 weeks is the best time to have surgery while pregnant. There is still a slight risk to the baby but it is a minimal risk. Please pray for me and the baby during surgery, my family, the doctors performing the surgery and that the test results of the mass are good results. I will be in the hospital for several days at Baptist Womens in Memphis.

Visit with Baby Georgia

Evan and I went to Oxford today to visit with Lain and Georgia. I think that Evan has fallen in love! He was so sweet and tender with her, I just could not get over it! When we first got there, she was in her bouncy seat. He sat on the floor and just looked at her and talked about her. The rest of the time, he had to know where she was and was very concerned about her. He even wanted to share his banana with her because he thought that she needed to eat. He kissed her repeatedly and asked if we could keep her and when we were leaving he said "We not leave her here". Georgia is a beautiful and precious baby! We enjoyed our afternoon with them!

I had two ultrasounds last week and it is definitely confirmed that we are having another boy! We are very excited about Evan having a brother!!

Josh asked Evan the other day what he was scared of and Evan replied with "Cats and lawnmowers".  He does not see a lot of cats and he used to love riding on the lawnmower, but won't get near it now!

Exciting News!!

As you can see by the ticker on the top of the page - we are expecting Lynch baby #2!  My due date is December 1.  We are looking forward to the new arrival and pray that the pregnancy goes well over the upcoming months.
